Apple HomePod with 1-year warranty drops to $219 in new eBay deal
Apple had little choice but to permanently reduce the retail price of the HomePod a couple of months ago after claiming a microscopic share of the booming smart speaker market, but just like we told you back then, better deals are often available at third-party sellers.
While major retailers like Best Buy continue to charge $299.99 for the Siri-controlled device, Quick Ship Electronics on eBay has the bad boy listed at $219 in both space gray and white paint jobs at the time of this writing. Although these are not sealed units sold in their untouched original packaging, the 99.8 percent positively rated seller does throw in its own 1-year warranty.
That means you’re looking at 100 percent functional HomePods you’ll probably not be able to distinguish from brand-new units. In fact, these may have never been used for more than a few days by their original owners who returned them for some reason. The “open box” devices will be shipped for free nationwide along with all their original accessories and standard retail packaging that may however be “slightly distressed.”
At $219, the HomePod on sale today is significantly cheaper than a similarly “premium” Google Home Max, letting you control everything from music streaming in your house to various smart home accessories, as well as send messages, set timers for different tasks, check your calendar, and get the latest news and weather reports, all with just your voice.
Granted, Siri doesn’t seem to know as much stuff as Google Assistant, and Apple has been late to adopt many features that are standard on other smart speakers. But if you own an iPhone, the HomePod is definitely worth buying. Especially at a nice $80 discount compared to the already reduced price of $300.
