Best new Android and iPhone apps (early June, 2017)
Posted June 12, 2017 | Mobile | News

Another week, another batch of about… well a couple of hundred new apps! If you want to check out some of the new software in the App Store or Play Store, you may be a bit lost, and that’s… pretty understandable. But fear not, we comb through the new stuff so you don’t have to!
This week around, we’ve got an interesting “social collage” app, which connects you with your friends via spontaneous photo sessions, an awesome timelapse app that lets you team up with others to make long, long lapses, Microsoft’s own take on a face swap app, an awesome notepad app for active stylus users, and lots more. Check them out and if you feel like we missed an awesome new app, let us know in the comments!

New apps for iPhone and iPad
1. Go Synco
Download
An app that connects you and your friends via random photo collages. Here’s how it works — you take a photo or a selfie and jot down what you are doing. Then, send an invite to your besties for them to do the same. After 5 minutes, the app compiles any entries (let’s hope no #foreveralone occurs) from the participants into a fun little collage for the ages.
2. TimeLens
Download
TimeLens lets you make extremely long time lapses — they could span hours, days, or even years. How? Teamwork! The app connects you with all the people that have it and have started a timelapse in your location. Then, it helps you stand at the exact spot others before you did and allign the exact shot they had. Take a photo, pocket your phone, and go about your business. That’s gonna make for some impressive timelapses over the months! Well, assuming the community picks up.
3. Beacon
Download
An app for on-the-fly meetup organizing — just send out a signal that you are free to hang out and friends will be notified. You can also have public beacons posted, so you can — for example — meet with other people at a concert or festival, offer an extra ticket to a movie you might have, and others.
4. Affinity Photo
Download
Putting the Pro in iPad Pro (technically the app works on iPad Air 2 and above), Affinity is a super-charged photo editor for your Apple tablet. You’ve got RAW support, unlimited layers, tons of effects, lens corrections, advanced panorama stitching options, dodge, burn, clone, red eye-removal, perspective corrections and tons more! Well, yeah, that $20 price tag needs to be justified… and we feel like it is!
5. Sensee Search
Download
Want to know all there is to know about “x” object you are currently gazing at? Take a photo and have Sensee scan it and Google it for you… That includes animals, landmarks, and anything else it’s able to recognize. Might be fun to play with the AI for a while, but we are not sure the $3 price tag is worth is, especially with Google Lens coming up in the future. Maybe when its price drops?
6. Unboxed
Download
Unboxing channels are huge on YouTube… so, this app wants to take it a step futher and help you buy a product after you’ve drooled over its unboxing. You can participate in a chat and ask questions for the host as well as share your experience with a specific product with others. It’s kind of a… consumer’s social media.
7. Mojo
Download
Are you a perfectly careful driver who feels under-appreciated? Mojo seeks to rectify that by following how much you let yourself be distracted by your phone while in the car, and then giving you points for resisting the texting temptations. You can use said points to spin a prize wheel and get gift cards for various retailers. Hey, freebies are always cool!
8. Pulse
Download
Pulse is a relaxation / meditation app that promises to put you to sleep in just 60 seconds. We’re not sure if it’s capable to deliver on that promise. We have the app running right now and will report as… zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
9. mood
Download
A new synth by apeSoft, the mood has an extremely simplistic look, but is powerful underneath. With 3 oscillators, sample WARP, input source processing, up to 16 voice poly, a few effects and link options, you’ve got a pretty potent instrument for your next mixtape!

1. Face Swap

Hey, face swap apps may be the thing of yesteryear, but Microsoft has decided to join the fray. The app lets you take a photo of your mug, then puts you in the scene of whatever target photo you choose (as long as there is a person in it).

4. MyScript Nebo
Download
This app is still in preview / beta and may not be widely available for download. Anyway, it’s an awesome notepad app for those that use an active stylus with their device. It has powerful editing tools that allow you to move chunks of handwritten text, add more lines between sentences and do much more.
5. Camarada
Download
This app shoots VR-ready clips for you. If you use just one smartphone, the app will make due with a single 2D image and render it for Cardboard-viewing. The interesting part comes when you have 2 phones on hand. Stack them with their cameras next to each other and you can shoot depth data, ergo – a real 3D VR clip! Well, you are limited to 10 seconds but… that’s fun!
6. GameSpot Now
Download
Hey, following all the new game news and announcements is a hard task nowadays. Especially with the hectic E3 event going on right now. Thankfully, the Android version of GameSpot’s informative app is out – check it out, gamers.
7. Cabana
Download
Made by Yahoo, this is a video-chat app that wants to get you and 4 of your friends chatting and watching videos online together.
8. TapTapTap Tile
Download
A utility app, which adds a quick toggle tile in your notification shade. It toggles the “show taps” Android overlay on and off, so you can activate it faster, instead of having to go all the way into developer options first.
