Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered Goes Standalone

As expected, Activision is making Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered available as a standalone game on June 27. Previously, it was only available as a pack-in with certain versions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
There are no real surprises here, other than the price, which is way too high: You will pay $40 to play this nearly decade-old game. It’s not clear yet if that price includes all of the multiplayer maps; with the original release, you had to pay extra to obtain them.
UPDATE: That map pack is not included, so you’ll need to pay another $15 to get those maps. –Paul
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will arrive first on PlayStation 4, via both disc and digital download. No surprise there: As you may recall, Sony lured the COD franchise away from Xbox two releases ago, and we’ve been suffering ever since. But it’s not clear when this game will appear in standalone form on Xbox and PC; probably in late July based on the past few COD releases.
In the good news department, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is still an incredible game: The single-player and multiplayer experiences are still both incredible. That said, if you were a real fan, you would have bought this already.
