EA Delays Anthem Until 2019

EA and BioWare’s new IP Anthem was one of the biggest highlights of E3 last year. The game, revealed at the Xbox E3 briefing, was initially supposed to launch this year. But due to recent reorganizations in the development team and other unknown reasons, EA is no longer planning to release the game this year.
Instead, the company has pushed the release to next year, and it’s now set for a Q4 FY19 release — sometime between July and September of 2019. EA says the company isn’t exactly “delaying” the title, declining recent reports of development being behind schedule. EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen said in a statement that the move will give Anthem more attention when it launches in a “quieter” quarter.
To make up for the Anthem delay, EA will be launching will a new Battlefield title later this year — though details on that are yet to emerge.
I, for one, was really looking forward to playing Anthem this year. The teaser trailer released at E3 last year looked brilliant, so the latest delay isn’t exactly assuring.
