Facebook Now Has a Really Cool AR Drawing Feature for Stories

Amidst its big privacy controversy, Facebook is launching a new feature for Stories. The company’s Stories feature, copied from Snapchat, is getting a new AR drawing feature on mobile devices.
The AR drawing mode can be used by users to draw or write in real-life, and make some pretty cool looking videos with it. AR drawing was already a functionality in some standalone apps, but Facebook bringing it to the masses with Stories makes a lot of sense. “We wanted to give people an easy way to create with augmented reality and draw in the world around them,” said John Barnett, a Facebook Camera Product Manager. Right now, the drawing mode only has one style for the drawing brush, but Facebook will be introducing more in the future, reports TechCrunch.
The new AR drawing mode is only available on Facebook Stories, meaning you can’t use it on Facebook’s Instagram app. The company is, however, bringing Instagram’s popular Boomerang feature to Stories today, so there’s a chance of the AR drawing mode coming to Instagram Stories in the future.
Unlike Instagram Stories, Facebook has been struggling to make Stories a thing on its own social network. Stories are placed prominently within its apps, but it’s having trouble getting user traction because of apps like Snaochat and Instagram.
