What, Samsung hasn’t even released the OG Galaxy Fold yet, and you are telling me that there is already a Fold 2? Well, the first foldable phones are rule-breakers and, as such, their planned release didn’t happen, and they won’t be outed in their original form and even specs.

The Fold was supposed to arrive in April but is coming in September, five months after the original release date, and typically by this time Samsung should already be hard at work on its successor if it wants to release it in the spring.

As you can see below, Samsung has patented all the possible notch positions – left, right and center – in an effort to circle the wagons around all the designs it may end up with after all the other hardware considerations are taken into account.

As for the aforementioned specs apart from the larger, 8″ display diagonal made possible by an apparently thinner frame all around, we can reasonably expect a Snapdragon 865 chispet with Qualcomm’s X55 multiband 5G modem tacked on, 12GB of RAM and 512GB storage. The camera kit is the big unknown – it will most certainly be overhauled as well, but how?

Whether this “liquid lens” or crazy amounts of zoom, those enhancements will certainly be spilling over to what could very well be Samsung’s most expensive phone for 2020 – the Galaxy Fold 2 – too.
