A Microsoft executive said that HoloLens 2, the firm’s next-generation Augmented Reality (AR) headset, will ship next month.
Reuters reports that Microsoft executive vice president Harry Shum said on Thursday that the software giant will start shipping HoloLens 2 to customers in September. The comment came during a speech at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai.
And … that’s pretty much the entire story. We don’t have an exact date, or any other additional information.
As a bit of background, Microsoft unveiled HoloLens 2 at MWC 2019 in February. The headset is a significant improvement over the original design, based on my hands-on experiences with both. In May, Microsoft launched pre-orders for the $3500 HoloLens Development Edition; that’s the same price as the shipping version for businesses. There will also be a $99 per month payment plan.
