Hulu Quietly Adds 4K Streaming

One of the few digs against Hulu is that its original content, movies, and TV shows are not available in 4K. But that’s starting to change.
“We have good news!” the Hulu Support account on Twitter noted recently in response to a complaint about the lack of 4K support on the service. “4K streaming was just re-released today on select devices. You’ll be able to watch any of our Hulu Originals in 4K. We hope this helps!”
It does help, but only with some Hulu content, and only on a very limited range of devices at the moment: The Hulu Support account on Twitter links to a Hulu Help site that offers more details.
Currently, 4K streaming is only available on the latest Apple TV and Google Chromecast Ultra. And the service notes that “while Hulu’s library of HD and 4K Ultra HD supported content continues to grow, at this time, it’s limited to a select list of programming, like all Hulu Originals.”
That’s good news for fans of The Handmaid’s Tale, I guess. But hopefully, Hulu will expand this service to more content and more device types over time. And to its Hulu + Live TV service, which is currently limited to 720p/60fps HD.
