A new OxygenOS update is now rolling out to the OnePlus 5T, and it’s bringing Android 8.0 Oreo with it.

“We are starting to push the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 5.0.2, our first official Android O OTA update for the OnePlus 5T,” OnePlus’ Adam Krisko writes in the release announcement. “As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we’ll begin a broader rollout in a few days.”

As you may recall, I reviewed the OnePlus 5T in early December and described it as “that rarest of personal technology products, something I can recommend wholeheartedly and without caveat.” I found the device to be nearly perfect, but some complained that it shipped originally with an Android 7.1-based OS despite the availability of Android 8.0 Oreo.

But as I noted at the time, OnePlus promised it would move quickly to bring Oreo to the 5T. And it did so: I previously installed all three of the Oreo-based OxygenOS updates, and wrote about two of them, in December and then again in mid-January. The final release appears to be quite similar (if not identical) to the third beta release.

According to OnePlus, this update adds the following changes.

Upgraded Android version to Oreo(8.0)
– New design for Quick Settings
– General bug fixes and improvements
– Applied CPU security patch: CVE-2017-13218

Upgraded applications
– Updated Launcher to v2.2
– Updated Gallery to v2.0
– Updated Weather to v1.9
– Updated File Manager to v1.7.6

I’m not seeing the final release yet, but I will report back if there is anything new or interesting when it arrives.
