Microsoft Ebook Refunds Coming in July

Microsoft has emailed customers who purchased ebooks from its online store, alerting them that refunds will arrive in July.
“The books category [in the Microsoft Store] closed on April 2, 2019, and Microsoft will begin processing refunds [in] early July 2019,” a poorly-written email from Microsoft—in which the text was delivered as sets of images for some reason—notes. “Unfortunately, this means that you’ll no longer have access to your current ebooks as of early July 2019, but you’ll get a refund if you paid for your ebook download[s].”
The email goes on to note that customers will have access to their ebooks until Microsoft processes refunds. At that time, customers will no longer have access to their ebooks and any in-book notes they may have created. (The good news? Any customer that actually did make in-book notes will receive a $25 credit to their Microsoft account.)
Refunds will be applied to the original payment method that was used to purchase ebooks. If that payment method is no longer valid, you’ll get a credit to your Microsoft account instead. That credit will expire in 5 years. Which is a lot longer than the Microsoft ebook store lasted.
