In a bid to help content creators embrace VR, Microsoft has opened its second Mixed Reality Capture Studio and Mixed Reality Academy in San Francisco.

“We want to help mixed reality experts become even more expert,” Microsoft’s Liz Hamren explains. “We want to help creators invent cutting-edge experiences that dazzle us in imaginative new ways.”

Microsoft has a place in San Francisco called the Microsoft Reactor, which it describes as “a community hub for creators and developers to come together, learn, collaborate, and help fuel the era of mixed reality.” And the Reactor is now picking up services that Microsoft previously offered only in Redmond.

For example, Microsoft already has a Mixed Reality Capture Studio in Redmond, so the San Francisco location at the Microsoft Reactor is its second. And the firm is partnering with Dimension Studio in London to provide a third location for this work. You can learn more here.

“These studios enable customers to create holograms that can be used for mixed reality experiences from 2D screens to fully immersive VR,” Hamren says. “Our goal is to make high-quality holographic captures accessible for mixed reality creators everywhere.”

Likewise, Microsoft already offers a Mixed Reality Academy in Redmond too. So it is now offering its mixed reality courses and workshops in San Francisco for the first time. These include a discovery program for beginners, a multi-week expert program for partners that wish to join the Mixed Reality Partner Program (MRPP), and various workshops and hackathons.
