Microsoft Pay Now Supports Masterpass by Mastercard

Microsoft announced today that it now supports Mastercard’s digital wallet service, Masterpass, in the U.S. This integration will allow customers using Microsoft Edge on Windows 10 to more easily make secure online purchases via their Microsoft accounts.
“We are deeply committed to powering a secure and optimized shopping experience that consumers and merchants deserve,” Mastercard senior vice president Raj Dhamodharan says. “Integrating technologies like Microsoft Pay with Masterpass will help the industry move to standards-based payments. Microsoft is a great partner and we will continue to collaborate with Microsoft to make shopping a better experience on all devices.”
As you may know, you can already link various credit cards and other payment methods like PayPal to your Microsoft account and then use them to make secure online payments via Microsoft Pay. So it appears that this integration is just a nicety for those are already using Masterpass as well. And despite its name and affiliation with Mastercard, Masterpass also works with Visa, Discover, and American Express credit and debit cards.
You can learn more about this integration from the Microsoft Pay website.
