Minecraft Boss Now Spearheads Microsoft’s Game Studios

Microsoft is promoting former Minecraft boss, Matt Booty, to oversee its game studios. As the company looks to expand its investment in Xbox games, the new move is crucial as Booty will now be spearheading all of Microsoft’s game studios responsible for some of the biggest Xbox and Windows 10 titles. It also comes following the launch of the disappointing lineup of exclusive games for Microsoft’s premium Xbox One X console.
Booty previously led Minecraft at the company after Microsoft’s $2.5 billion acquisition of Mojang back in 2014. As part of his new role, Booty will be overlooking all of Microsoft’s studios, including Halo maker 343 Studios, Minecraft maker Mojang, Forza maker Turn 10, Gears of War maker The Coalition, and Sea of Thieves maker Rare.
According to GameBeat, Booty will be reporting directly to the Xbox chief and EVP of Gaming at Microsoft, Phill Spencer. Like before, Spencer will be reporting to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and working with the Senior Leadership team at Redmond.
