New MacBook Pro 'about to launch' – FCC filing

Apple has already updated its MacBook Pro range for 2019 – read our MacBook Pro 15in (2019) review for detailed testing and analysis – but it seems the company isn’t finished yet. Eagle-eyed Apple fans have spotted a listing for a new device on the FCC website, with the model number A2159.
The filing was quickly taken down, but not before the details had been devoured by rumour-hungry fans and spread across the web. All the indications suggest that it will be an update to the MacBook Pro without a Touch Bar that wasn’t part of the launch earlier in 2019. Model A2159 was registered with the EEC back in June.
The power rating indicated by the regulatory label (61W, as a Reddit user pointed out) matches that of the current entry-level 13in MacBook Pro; it also has the same screen size and chassis dimensions, which is why a radical design is unlikely. It would have been a surprise in any case if Apple had redesigned the cheapest Pro model and left the more expensive models alone – surprising, and annoying for those who bought the new models back in May.
A more significant redesign is believed to be on the cards – a larger 16in MacBook Pro is expected – but this is unlikely to arrive before 2020.
