OnePlus has issued a new software update that fixes a widely-reported “phantom touch” issue with the OnePlus 7 Pro. But the update also adds numerous improvements to the camera.

“We are starting to push the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 9.5.7,” the firm announced in a forum post. “This build contains lots of improvements for the triple camera based on your feedback.”

Buried in a long list of improvements is the note, “Improved touch sensitivity for screen.” This is, I think, the real focus of this update, given the complaints. But the update also fixes issues with the Ambient Display, optimizes Double Tap to Wake, improves the audio quality for voice calls from third-party apps, and improves the touch sensitivity for the display.

There’s a long list of camera fixes too:

• Improved overall contrast and color performance
• Improved white balance consistency of triple camera
• Improved accuracy and stability of auto focusing
• Fixed issue of greenish tone in some low light scenes
• Fixed issue of noise in some HDR scenes
• Improved contrast and color saturation of ultra wide
• Improved clarity and noise reduction in low light scene of ultra wide
• Improved clarity and noise reduction of telephoto
• Improved clarity and color of Nightscape
• Improved brightness and clarity in extreme low light scene of Nightscape

OnePlus provides a separate blog post detailing the camera improvements.

“We are very excited [that] we’ll be able to provide you a better camera shooting experience,” the firm writes, while providing a list of before and after shots that highlight the changes added by the update. Given my mostly less-than-stellar results with this handset’s camera, I’m eager to see if the update delivers on the promised improvements.
