OnePlus Goes Old School to Promote New Phone

OnePlus took out a full-page ad for the OnePlus 7 Pro in today’s New York Times. The phone doesn’t debut until May 14.
“No bells and whistles. No bezel. No notch. Just a better phone,” the ad declares. “Now that’s newsworthy.”
The ad also notes the OnePlus 7 Pro’s launch date, May 14.
OnePlus is an interesting company. Its phones are widely-beloved by enthusiasts and reviewers for their high-end specifications and low pricing. The firm upgrades its flagship handset twice per year, not once. And, until recently, its success has been due largely to word-of-mouth: OnePlus has very few wireless carrier partnerships compared with the industry’s biggest players.
That’s starting to change, of course. And this week’s NYT ad is no doubt part of a broader campaign to put the firm and its well-regarded handsets in front of bigger and more mainstream audiences.
I’m looking forward to the launch event and to reviewing the OnePlus 7 Pro.
