Oppo Shows Off New Prototype With Almost No Side Bezels

Oppo is back once again with a crazy new prototype. The company today shared pictures of a new display technology that essentially eliminates the size bezels of a phone.
Called the new “Waterfall Screen” technology, the new display curves around the side of the device and gives it a really cool look. The premium look achieved with the 88-degree curve on both the sides of the device is something we have never seen before:
This design is obviously very gorgeous, but its practicality is questionable. For one, there doesn’t seem to be any space left for the side buttons, so Oppo would have to find a new place for things like the power button, and that could make using the device uncomfortable at first. And secondly, the display curving around the sides could lead to miss-taps all the time unless Oppo comes up with some sort of system that can ignore these touches when you are actually holding the device.
And last but not least, the design doesn’t seem to add any actual functionality — so is it really needed? I personally don’t think so.
Oppo isn’t saying if we will get to see the display on an actual device yet, though. So it could be a while before the company starts selling a product with this tech.
