Qualcomm Seeks to Ban Sale of iPhone XS, XR in China Too

Using the same set of two patents that triggered a sales ban on iOS 11-based iPhones in China, Qualcomm now seeks to ban the sale of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR in that country too.
“We plan to use the same patents to file suit against the three new iPhone models,” a Qualcomm attorney told The Financial Times.
As you may have seen, Qualcomm on Monday won a sales ban on several iPhone models in China. But the impact of that ban was significantly reduced when it was later revealed to only impact those iPhones still running iOS 11.
Apple had told CNBC that the patent violations were resolved with iOS 12, the latest version of its mobile software. But Qualcomm’s new action suggests that is not the case. And that it far more likely than the previous ban only impacted iOS 11-based iPhones because of the time frame in which the original suit was made.
