Skype Translator Now Supports Real-Time Japanese Translation

Microsoft announced today that Skype Translator now offers real-time translation of spoken word Japanese. This is the 10th language for which Skype Translator offers such support, in addition to over 60 written languages.
As part of this announcement, Microsoft also said that Japanese will be available on all Microsoft Translation services, including Microsoft Translator Live.
“With the release of a complicated language like Japanese, Microsoft’s Deep Neural Networks and AI powered technologies have been hard at work, getting smarter as more data is collected and providing cohesive products to make daily tasks and conversations possible,” a Microsoft representative told me.
Real-time Skype Translator functionality is available in the Skype desktop application for Windows and Skype for Windows 10, which recently came out of preview. You can also access this functionality in the Microsoft Translator apps on Android, iOS, and Windows. A preview version of the Microsoft Translator PowerPoint add-in also provides real-time presentation translations directly from within PowerPoint, Microsoft notes.
