The HTC Wildfire E could mark the brand's return to the budget segment

As HTC’s smartphone business has shrunk in size, the company has retreated from unprofitable segments and switched its focus over to the flagship and upper-midrange markets. But according to sources, the brand could soon make a surprise return to the budget segment.
On the inside, the report points towards the presence of a low-end, octa-core processor first introduced last year and produced by a company most people won’t have heard of – UniSoC. Paired with this will apparently be 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Completing the setup should be a 3,000mAh battery, Android 9 Pie, 4G LTE support, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and an outdated micro-USB port.
HTC apparently has plans to launch the Wildfire E in Russia at first but will probably expand availability to wherever it sees a decent level of demand. But whether that includes the United States or not remains a mystery.
