Tip: You Can Install OneNote 2016 from Windows Store Too

As you may know, Microsoft is slowly making much of Office 2016 available to Windows 10 users from the Windows Store. But OneNote is curiously absent: If you download Office 2016 from the Store, OneNote 2016 is not included. You’re supposed to use (the UWP) OneNote for Windows 10 instead.
But OneNote 2016 is available in the Windows Store. And unlike the Office 2016 suites, which are currently limited in availability to Surface Laptop owners and some Windows Insiders, anyone with Windows 10 can download and install it.
Despite a worrying initial sign-in that suggests you need an Azure AD account, I’ve verified that it works on a Windows 10 S desktop PC. So that’s a good sign. And, yes, I was able to sign into it with my Microsoft account.
Thanks to Microsoft’s William Devereux for the tip. You can find out more about OneNote 2016 availability in the Store from the Microsoft website.
