Walmart Partners with Google for Voice Ordering

Walmart this week announced that it is partnering with Google to bring Assistant-based voice ordering to its customers.
“With the new voice ordering capabilities we’re building across platforms with partners like Google, we’re helping customers simply say the word to have Walmart help them shop … literally,” Walmart senior vice president Tom Ward writes. “Introducing: Walmart Voice Order.”
Walmart Voice Order allows customers to say “Hey Google, talk to Walmart” to any Assistant-powered device so that they can add items directly to their Walmart cart. That means you can manage your cart from anywhere: From home using Google Home or another smart speaker, or out in the world using Google Assistant on your smartphone.
The system improves with use, Walmart says, and it will be tailored to the products Walmart knows you prefer. For example, if you say “add milk to my cart,” it will add the specific milk—size and brand—that you always get.
Walmart says that Voice Order is rolling out to customers over the next few weeks.
