Tips and picks
Tip of the week: Understand your Windows 10 recovery options
Windows 10 ships with a surprisingly long list of recovery options. And it’s going to get another one in 2020.
Related: This is how I configure Windows 10 (Premium article, also in Windows 10 Field Guide)
App pick of the week: Stardock utilities for Windows 10
Stardock’s Start 10 was recently updated to support Windows 10’s Dark Mode. And so was Groupy!
Enterprise pick of the week: Bye, bye Azure Active Directory Basic
One of the handful of editions of Azure AD is going away. Note: This is not the free version
Also: If you didn’t look at the changes coming October 1 and you use Win Server, SQL Server on AWS, Google Cloud, check out my post this week about outsourcing changes.
Codename pick of the week: O’Hare
One from the codename vault (courtesy of Mr. Thurrott). O’Hare was the codename for IE 1.0. Why? Because it could get you to any destination from Chicago (which was the codename for Win 95)
Beer pick of the week: Foley Brothers Brewing Longbeards Oatmeal Stout
No, I am not an owner at Foley Brothers Brewing (sadly). But I did get to try their English-style oatmeal stout called Longbeards Oatmeal Stout. And it’s smooth, easy to drink and lightly chocolately. Not too heavy for summer, either. Those Vermonters have done a nice job with this one.
