YouTube Music is getting a Waze integration

If you ever doubted that Google was going to put Play Music to rest, here’s further proof. Popular Google-owned navigation app Waze has added YouTube Music to its roster of app integrations, whereas Play Music was never treated to this luxury.
YouTube Music is Google’s new music streaming service, with which the company is hoping to finally gain a meaningful foothold in the streaming field, which is dominated by the likes of Spotify and Apple Music.
Enabling YouTube Music within Waze allows you to conveniently pause/play and skip songs, without leaving the navigation interface, as the player takes on a minimized form and is displayed over the map.
The integration is rolling out to Waze in Brazil today, while other regions will be getting it in “the coming weeks.”
“We’re really excited to have YouTube Music be part of the Waze Audio Player family,” said Adam Fried, Head of Global Partnerships at Waze. “We always want to make sure our users have the best possible experience in the car, and now providing them with access to YouTube Music’s huge catalogue means they’ll always have access to their favourite tracks and playlists while on the road.”
